International students who have gained and accepted admission to NTU are to apply for a Student’s Pass before departing for Singapore.
How to apply for the Student’s Pass
Please submit Form 16 online at the website of Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
Have the following ready:
- a valid passport
- letter of offer of admission
- NTU’s notification on applying for the Student's Pass online
It takes five to 10 working days for your application to be processed. Once approved, you will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter cum single-journey visa. The single-journey visa allows you to stay up to 30 days in Singapore. Please produce the IPA letter at the immigration checkpoint in Singapore.
Students from countries which do not require a visa for entry into Singapore would normally be issued:
- a Social Visit Pass that is valid for 14 to 30 days
- the IPA letter
Please collect your Student's Pass before the Social Visit Pass expires.
Collecting the Student’s Pass
Upon arrival in Singapore and after registering with the University, please present the following documents to collect the Student's Pass:
- IPA letter from ICA

- embarkation/disembarkation card
- one recent passport-sized colour photograph*
- signed print-out of Form 16 from SOLAR
- a medical report in the prescribed ICA format (not applicable for students staying less than six months in Singapore)
During the peak period, ICA might arrange for students to collect their Student’s Pass at NTU. Successfully-matriculated students will be notified of the procedures and dates. Students who fail to collect their Student’s Pass at NTU are required to do so at ICA.
